Impolite Fasting
February 26, 2010It seems to me that politeness is one of the greatest hindrances to fasting. If you have been fasting from sweets and treats this week you will likely know what I mean. If you are around people, it seems virtually impossible to go through the day without someone kindly offering you some type of snack or goodie. And while I will admit that part of the problem is that I’m a little shy about saying “Sorry, I can’t, I’m fasting from treats this week”, often the bigger struggle is quieting the nagging voice in my head that says “It would be rude to refuse.” It just seems wrong, especially if someone has gone out of their way to provide said snack for you. It’s’ quite the dilemma for me. Have you noticed this in your fast this week? How do you navigate it?
